4th Quarter Certified- Westchester High Wins State Division I Title!

Posted by Just10 on March 24, 2009

On Saturday night, in front of thousands of people at the Arco Arena in Sacremento, Westchester High school captured the 2009 Division I Basketball Title. The Westchester Comets dominated the Oakland McClymonds team from the start and never looked back beating them 49-31 in a low scoring affair. Dominique O’Conner, senior guard and City Section player of the year, led the Comets with 16 points while McClymonds beat themselves by making only 10 of 49 shots. This is the school’s fifth state title to go along with their 10 city sectional titles and the win improved coach Ed Azzam’s record to 5-0 in state title games. After a very impressive year with a 35-2 record, Westchester is expecting a stronger season next year with several starters returning including Dwayne Polee Jr. and Jordin Mayes! Good Luck Y’all!!!

P.S. In case you did not know, Josh and I are both proud graduates of Westchester High, Class of ’05! Weeeeesssttt! Haha

High School Hoops: Fairfax’s Renardo Sidney Chooses USC!

Posted by Just10 on February 25, 2009

You may not know who Renardo Sidney is if you are not into high school or college basketball or if you never attended Fairfax or even Westchester high schools! But Sidney may be the next big hope for the University of Southern California to win a National Championship. Renardo Sidney is one of the top high school basketball player in the country playing on one of the top high school teams in the country. He had been undecided on which college he would attend until this past weekend. At a news conference inside Fairfax high school’s gymnasium, Sidney announced that he will attend USC over several other top colleges such as UCLA, UConn, Virginia, Mississippi State, Texas, Arizona State, and UNLV. Sidney has been considered a top recruit since his junior high school days but has been criticized for his poor work ethic and being overweight. Regardless, Renardo Sidney will be a star at USC. Only one obstacle: He must take the SATs and get a decent score to get into the private university! Good luck!

P.S. Big guys always seem to have a great sense of humor! In the video, Renardo makes everyone wait as struggles to open a box revealing his college choice!
