Roy Lichtenstein’s “Ohh…Alright” Painting Sells for 42.6 Million!

I absolutely love Roy Lichtenstein’s paintings and the entire Pop Art movement that he belonged to but 42.6 million is a whole lot of money! Auction houses Christie’s, Sotheby’s, & Phillips, de Pury & Company bought in almost $750 million in sales this past week. Artists featured in the sale included Andy Warhol ($63.36 million sale of “Men in Her Life?”!!!), Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, & Felix Gonzalez-Torres. The $42.6 million sale of Ohh…Alright is a record amount for any Roy Lichtenstein painting!

Either way you can’t be from Cali and not be excited for a new Dre and Snoop collaboration. Where’s Nate Dogg though? I hope his health permits him to be a part of Detox if it ever comes out.

In my opinion, this is seriously the best music video Dom Kennedy has ever released. This is almost exactly what I would envision for this song but with a few great additions. The perfect girl. The French. The Ending. The Style. The Visions. I will definitely be watching this video a few more times. Props to Dom Kennedy and The TopShelf Company.

One of the greatest characters and personalities that Hip Hop has ever birthed would have turned 42 today. Ol’ Dirty Bastard aka ODB aka Dirt McGirt aka Big Baby Jesus aka Osiris aka Ason Jones was born Russell Tyrone Jones and became one of the most popular solo artist from the Wu-Tang clan collective. His antics and unusual lyrics and delivery made him always a standout until the day he passed. In the above video, Raekwon the Chef remembers with a new video from his OB4CL II album.
