Many great musicians and artists have a difficult time combining the powerful lyrics they write with powerful visuals. This is what made Michael Jackson the iconic and amazing figure he was and will continue to be. This is the quality that makes Kanye West’s concerts so amazing and breathtaking. This is where Drake’s troubles have been to start his music career. Amazing music but only two music videos deep and everyone is critiquing his artistic decisions.
Now the official video from his first single for his first official album has just released. I have yet to hear any opinions on the video but I am very sure there will be mixed emotions about it. I enjoyed the video because it really shows the internal conflicts that a huge artist might have while starting their career. The visuals of car lights and faceless people surrounding Drake while a woman walks away from his life give some indications as to what the young man might go through. However, I would have liked to see a little less of Drake’s face and more visuals or maybe even footage from live performances to give the viewer a more realistic view of the rapper’s life.
Whether you like the video or not, Drake is a 22-year-old young man with tons of talent but plenty of learning left. Soon he will know all the in’s and out’s of the entertainment industry and be able to give every fan exactly what they want!
Honestly, I have not heard too much from this young artist except for a track he did with Fly Guys not too long ago. But I fully trust the ears of the LA Leakers and the mixtape features Shawn Chrystopher, Skeme, and Casey Veggies. With that said, check out the newest mixtape from the LA Leakers West LA Diaries series. Check out the tracklisting and back cover after the jump!
P.S. I’m hearing that the download time is like 35 minutes so good luck :-/
As she preps for her next video “Rockstar 101″, Rihanna gets a few drum lessons from Travis Barker. Expect to see this music video featuring Barker and Slash (Guns n’ Roses) sooner than later!
I’m a little late but I have been waiting on this since I heard “Choose Up” a couple months back! I’m running late to work so I will have to write more about this later! Peace and enjoy!
We are a little late and informing you but DAMN IT, THAT’S NO EXCUSE! BRING YO ASS TO THE SHOW! Hahaha
But for real, J*Davey and U-N-I might have two of the best live performances of any musical artists right now. They both love to have fun on stage and really feed off the crowd. So you can expect to have a great time at the famous Roxy nightclub where some of the greatest performers have entertained LA’s best.
Also check below and after the jump to see the promotional video by U-N-I and J*Davey! Thank Eazee for that!
Recently I have become a big fan of Creative Control and the work they have done with Curren$y, Ski Beatz, Mos Def, and various other musical artists. Their simple yet powerful cinematography and style is a nice subtle change to the old-fashioned Hip Hop video. Recently Creative Control directed the video for Big K.R.I.T.’s “Children of the World”. K.R.I.T.’s album K.R.I.T. Wuz Here is scheduled to drop in May so make you check that out!
This has got to be some kind of April Fool’s joke!!! Wow! Mos Def decides to play Super Mr. Superhero on an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba! For the person that smokes a lot, this may be a very entertaining show! Haha
