Japan Wins World Baseball Classic! Again!

In dramatic fashion, Japan won the World Baseball Classic over Korea in a 10th inning thriller. Played at Dodger stadium in front of a crowd of 54,846, the Koreans and Japanese traded single run innings before ending the 9th inning with a 3-3 draw. Extra innings! Finally, in the top of the 10th inning, Seattle Mariners outfielder, Ichiro Suzuki lined a two RBI single into the outfield giving the Japan team a 5-3 lead to seal the game. For winning the WBC, Japan received the $2.7 million winner’s share and a bonus $400,000 for winning the second round. Korea received the $1.7 million runners-up share and the bonus $300,000 for winning the first round. Congratulations to the Japanese team for winning the World Baseball Classic. Hopefully the US team can win the WBC when it returns in 2013!
