Michael Phelps has confirmed that the picture of him smoking from a marijuana bong pipe is real and has apologizes for his mistake! The picture was published on Saturday by british tabloid News of the World and led to instant criticism…

people like you are the reason that i think that ignorance should be punishable by death, marijuana is nearly harmless to the human body it is only illegal so that people will pay out the ass for perscription pain medication that will get you ADDICTED (which btw, marijuana is IMPOSSIBLE to get addicted to) i believe that there are worse things that we need to worry about than a harmless plant

Although I don’t condone weed smoking and since you are a role model for younger kids it’s not right. However, you are a human and we do make mistakes. People like isheanesu think you should be stripped of your medals but i believe you should be given more credit since you were smoking, and you still managed to beat them. Phelps is a great athlete, so who gives a fuck if he smokes weed. We should admire who he was while preforming and learn from that instead of trying to find the bad things in all people.

I really don’t see the big deal. He smokes pot. Lots of people do. I do. Marijuana isn’t a performance enhancing drug. In fact, he should get an extra medal for being able to kick that much ass in the pool with a diminished lung capacity (assuming he smoked regularly, that is). The fact he was able to stand up and admit its him should make him a role model for decent smokers everywhere. Now, if he only didn’t apologize for it, we’d have a guy who knows what he’s doing.
For the record, that’s a hand-blown bong worth over $300. Smokin’ in style.
