Blender Magazine Calls Tupac Overrated!

Posted at the Fresh 2 Def site! Thanks Julien

Dead rapper Tupac “2Pac” Shakur, the hip-hop icon who sold more records after he was murdered than during his brief career, is the most overrated person in music, according to music magazine Blender.

Shakur tops a tongue-in-cheek list that also includes “places, trends and other junk in rock,” Blender said in its upcoming October issue, due on newsstands next week.

But while Shakur was a decent rapper with “insane rock-star charisma,” according to Blender, he also “larded records with self-mythologizing, mediocre filler.”

It’s not the first time the pages of Blender have been used to bring down Shakur a few notches. In its June issue, rapper Lil Wayne listed him among his top five rappers, but then admitted: “I can’t front: I was never into Pac.”

Just10- I can never consider 2Pac overrated simply because of the amount of things he did in his short career. He made hundreds of songs and many of them became classic hits! (Lil Wayne is trying to do the same thing but how many of his will become classic?) Pac probably didn’t have a classic album that is on the lines of some artists like Big, Nas, and Jay-z but his collection of songs can stand up against any artist in any genre! Plus 2Pac is one of the only artist to make me feel a lot of emotions while listening to a song! Overrated? Please!

    Ridiculous…. WOW.

Even if you are not into Hip Hop, you have to know Pac was one of the greatest artists/poets of his time. He was phenomenal and forever will be. I’ll be damned if some fake ass magazine who needs attention will ruin this man’s legacy and spit dirt on his name when he’s not alive to defend himself.

I say fire the entire staff of Blender who helped write, print and produce this article.

2Pac is a legend and will forever be one. R.I.P

Blender Magazine is full of bologna. I believe the only reason Lil Wayne ended up making that smart ass statement is because he knows if 2pac had of lived and still been around rappin to this date his career wouldn’t be nearly as close to glorified as it is now. And to make it even more ironic is that 2pac said how much he “wasn’t into Pac” but he ended up pushin the envelope a little too much on his career by saying he’s The Best Rapper Alive. Now I know 2pac has been dead and gone since ’96..but hmmmm, I wonder what’s the motive behind that title? Everybody had already dubbed 2pac has one of the greatest MC’s to ever touch the mic. Even Nas has high respects for Pac even though they had a little beef goin on back in the latter part of the 90s. Blender magazine..shit I ain’t even never heard of this magazine until I heard them drop the Tupac bomb. I believe they’re just jealous because even in death, 2pac’s albums can get sold out as soon as they hit the stores..and then his songs are still getting high ranks and downloaded onto kids’ ipods, mp3 players, cell phone as a ringtone..I mean come on! Lil Wayne’s material is cool, but his shit is more ringtone accessible and downloadable than Pac’s was. And Pac didn’t just rap on ONE SUBJECT, 2pac rapped on many diverse subjects..such as people living in poverty, the people who are constantly involved in the drug life, gun crimes, the young women who are out havin babies, his sexual side would come loose, he made a very classic song to his mother..and one thing that got a lot of people is that he told it like it is. He didn’t hold back any of his feelings, and I also kind of think that’s why people saw him as this “ruthless brute.” But in reality 2pac was just a human being who had tough skin, a driven and determined attitude, a bitter sweet insight on things in the world around him, strong morals, and a one in a million heart. But for some magazine that ain’t even wildly recognized to call him over rated?!?! Now I just think they’ve lost their marbles. You have to understand his lyrics, and where he’s coming from to understand why he said what he said, and why he did what he did. Just like Ludacris said in a song “Those who criticize the hip hop music can’t even adapt or relate to it.” And that is so true. Those upscale people who have big top jobs such as congress women or men, news reporters and journalists..they’re mainly the ones who don’t understand what the true concept of 2pac or any other true rap artists words are about..because they’d rather listen to Barry White, or Cool & The Gang and crap like that. Those type of people didn’t give 2pac a chance, and cast him out to be just this menace 2 society, and I don’t believe he was. He was just trynna warn the world of what was to come, and inform people of what he seen..and how we can still prevent a situation like that of violence and death from occuring again. He wasn’t provoking the kids to go out and shoot people, and rob and lie, and steal, or go have babies with young fast ass girls..he was trynna tell America, or anyone who would listen to him..that if we don’t make certain changes in our lives, drastic changes to how we treat people and how we view other people for whatever reason, then we’re not gonna win in the long run. His music was deep, and for those who try to criticize people such as Pac need to just sit down and take a nap.
