Nas Changes Controversial Album Title

Posted by Jo$h on May 19, 2008

EW.com has reported that Nas has made a last minute decision to change the highly scrutinized title of his upcoming album from “Nigger” to simply “Nas”.  This comes after months of pressure from label executives to change the racially inspired album title.  However, Nas doesn’t see the title change as a change from what he expects to bring on this album.

“It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans. It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that, creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.”

  1. I knew he wouldn’t go through with it. But you have to give the guy credit for knowing how to stir up media buzz for his upcoming album. Float it out there that you’re going to use the most offensive and controversial word in American culture as the title for your new album and – POW! – instant media frenzy!

Controversy sells – plain and simple. Apparently even feigned controversy.
